Upload a PNG or JPG to compress it automatically: PNGs with gradient transparency use truecolor compression, otherwise they are converted to 256-color indexed mode; JPGs are re-encoded at 80% quality. All metadata (EXIF, ICC, XMP, etc.) is stripped, and the before/after file sizes and savings ratio are shown

The Image Compressor reduces the file size of PNG and JPG images with as little quality loss as possible, making them easier to store, share, and load on the web. Once you upload an image, the tool automatically:
The tool always picks the smaller result, so you get the most efficient compression for your image.
After the tool receives an image, it validates the format (PNG and JPG only) and analyzes the channel and transparency characteristics. Images without gradient transparency can be losslessly converted to a 256-color palette (indexed) mode, drastically reducing size; images with gradient transparency keep their full color and alpha information and use a more refined compression path to avoid quality loss.
For JPGs, the tool re-encodes the image data at a consistent lower quality level. Regardless of format, the re-encoding process naturally discards the EXIF, ICC, and XMP metadata blocks carried by the original, achieving the "metadata removal" effect.
Finally, the tool generates both an indexed result and a truecolor result, compares the actual file sizes, and returns the smaller one, ensuring you always get the best output for the given image.
Compress an image for your web page:
If the original is already very small, the savings may be modest, which is normal; the tool always returns the smallest result.
This tool belongs to the design group alongside Image to ICO Icon, Image Color Picker, Color Palette, and Color Converter: Image Compressor reduces file size, Image to ICO Icon turns an image into website icons, Image Color Picker samples colors from an image, Color Palette generates a gradient series from a single color, and Color Converter translates between color models. To handle compressed image data further, you can also pair it with Base64 Encoder and MIME Type Lookup.
